City of Dallas Single-Use Carryout Bag Program

Attention Dallas retailers:
make sure you’re ready for the city’s Single-Use Carryout Bag Program, which goes into effect January 1, 2015.  Businesses that provide single-use bags must register with the city annually for each location before distributing single-use carryout bags and will be required to collect a five cent fee for every single-use bag issued to a customer.  Exemptions to the single-use carryout bag program include plastic bags used for produce, meat, and bulk items inside grocery or other retail stores and recyclable paper bags used by restaurants to take away prepared food.  Details on the program, other exemptions, single-use and reusable carryout bag standards, business registration, and signage requirements can be found by clicking the above link.
