Retirement of Jack Martin

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the retirement of our good friend, valued partner, and firm founder, Jack Martin, effective April 1, 2022. Although we will miss having Jack in the office, after 33 years of stellar service, he has well-earned the opportunity to pursue his other interests.

Those of us who know Jack best recognize he will not slow down or retire in any traditional sense, but that he will shift the focus of his talents in pursuit of his other passions: writing, grandchildren, and motorcycles (but not with the grandkids yet!).

Jack began his practice in 1989 as a business attorney and became involved in alcoholic beverage law matters early on. He left the large firm arena in 1999 to establish Jack Martin & Associates, a practice dedicated exclusively to the alcoholic beverage industry, assisting clients in the manufacturing, distribution, and retail tiers, as well as clients whose businesses were impacted by alcoholic beverage regulations. Jack hired Kimberly Frost and Kyle Hill in 2007, and the firm transitioned to Martin, Frost & Hill, PC in 2011, which it will remain after Jack’s retirement.

At the onset of his practice and throughout his career, Jack became a leader in alcoholic beverage licensing and compliance matters in Texas and a respected attorney and voice for clients and the industry before the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. He relished his role in helping clients achieve their business goals and particularly enjoyed working to revise the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code and the Commission’s rules when the opportunity arose. He also enjoyed making fast friends with colleagues over the course of his career among trade associations and other industry groups, such as AAIAC, NALCP, AHIA, and the Texas Craft Brewer’s Guild.

Jack grew up in a time when the beer industry in the U.S. was dominated by a handful of breweries that offered one style of beer. As a former home brewer and aficionado of great beer, he is proud of the fact that he and his partners have helped the Texas beer industry grow and thrive to the point where the range and quality of Texas beers are among the best in the world.

After April 1, you can reach Jack on his personal email,

Kimberly and Kyle look forward to continuing to serve all the clients of our firm, and we hope that you will reach out if you have any questions or concerns about the transition.
