TABC FEES & TECHNOLOGY TRANSITION – IMPORTANT INFO

If you anticipate opening a new location or relocating one between August and November,
READ THIS.Big changes are happening with TABC licensing this year. To facilitate new fees and licensing technology transition, TABC is proposing to adopt temporary rules that will significantly alter timing for application filings and permit issuance.TECHNOLOGY TRANSITION:TABC is transitioning to new technology used to process applications (originals, renewals, and supplementals). To facilitate the switch from old to new system, the temporary rule would provide that TABC will not accept any original applications for the month of August. Also, applications received before July 31, 2021 are considered incomplete unless applicant has provided all required information AND fees.Presuming the proposed rules will be adopted and considering the processing time to review applications for missing info and invoice applicants for permit fees required for remittance, Martin Frost & Hill recommends filing original applications with TABC no later than May 1, 2021 to avoid potential rejection as an incomplete application on July 31, 2021 and then having to wait until September to re-file.FEES:Last session, the legislature instructed TABC to review and revise application fees. The proposed new fees haven’t been published, but we anticipate fee increases for all original and renewal applications filed on or after September 1, 2021.MFH will provide more information as it becomes available, and we encourage you to sign up for news from TABC here.
