What is required in TTB Formula Application

The formula for a TTB formula is like a recipe from a cookbook. You must include:

• The class/type of the product.

• A quantitative list of ingredients, stated as a percentage or by volume or weight. The quantities can be stated as a range.

• A step-by-step explanation of how the product is made, being certain to include every ingredient in the explanation.

• Total yield of the batch, unless the ingredients are stated as percentages.

• The alcohol content of the finished product and of any finished alcoholic beverage ingredients. In some cases, the proof at distillation is also required.

• Required attachments, such as an approved Flavor Ingredient Data Sheet for compound flavors or a spec sheet for many other types of ingredients.
